López Arellano says that marketing is fundamental to transfer technology. Knowing technology transfer and scientific patent processes, and know how to sell them through marketing, those were some objectives of the visit made to different universities and research centers in Germany by the Director of the Technological Innovation Park (PIT, Parque de Innovación Tecnológica) of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS, Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa).
As part of his experience, José Ramón López Arellano related that German development in regard to technology transfer is due to marketing implementation on its basic science applied research, which strengthens its growth. He considered that, in order to reach such point of growth, German community had to change its mindset and break paradigms; situation which, he laments, has not occurred in Mexico yet.
He said that, however, he witnessed German universities’ interest on supporting the development of Mexico’s higher education institutions, and specifically UAS, so economic growth can be fomented and cooperation bonds can be made with this aim. “These universities are Kassel’s, Postdam’s and Brandenburg’s, as well as the German Development Institute”, specified.
López Arellano commented that National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT) coordinated this program on intensive professionalization named Get-In, altogether with the Mexican National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES, Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst); program which allowed him to visit this technologically developed country. Finally, he recalled that, in order to apply to such CONACyT program, a mobile app project was presented, which was developed in the facilities of PIT-UAS.
